About Us
Todd Wilson literally grew up in the manufactured housing industry. His father, Bill Wilson, left a career as a mechanical engineer to start Cherry Hill Homes, Inc. in the early 1970’s when Todd was a toddler. By the time Todd was a teenager, he was a regular at the set-up sites and was selling homes at the Williamstown, KY, sales center.
After graduation with a degree in Business Management from the University of Kentucky in 1992, Todd worked a short time with Oakwood Homes in Wilmington, NC. After gaining insight into how other dealerships operated, Todd returned to Cherry Hill Homes where he progressed in responsibility. He worked as a sales person, then sales manager, and eventually general manager. In 2001, Todd began acquiring stock in the company. Today, he is the owner of Cherry Hill Homes, the oldest dealership in Northern Kentucky.
In 2000, Cherry Hill management made the decision to move the sales operation to an area that was emerging as the retail hub for a multi-county area. For maximum exposure, the Wilson family designed and built a new, attractive sales center at the Dry Ridge, KY exit of I-75, near a Super Wal-Mart, a grocery store, numerous restaurants and motels, and the new Grant County High School. That sales center, and each home is lighted and completely and tastefully decorated by Todd’s wife, Dee.
It is apparent in the new sales center that, Cherry Hill Homes has always focused on innovation. The company was doing “land-home” transactions before the terminology was introduced to the industry, and the Wilsons were designing basements for doublewide houses long before the advent of perimeter frames. Then in 2002, a Cherry Hill Homes crawl-space foundation design was featured in the Manufactured Housing Research Alliance publication, “Guide to Foundation and Support Systems for Manufactured Housing, Excellence in Design, Manufacturing and Installation Series.” The design had evolved as Cherry Hill pursued it philosophy that a home’s value and performance starts with the foundation at set-up.
Providing value and quality to customers has been Cherry Hill’s guiding principle during its entire history. That, the Wilsons believe, is the primary reason that the company’s history has been so long. Today Todd is providing homes for the grandchildren of Cherry Hill’s earliest customers. Many of those new customers are also moving into the Wilson family’s manufactured home parks. Some are even settling near the grandparents who, after 30 years, still live there with many of them in their second Cherry Hill home.
With such close permanent relationships with his customers, Todd feels a real commitment to them. It is his belief that our industry can prosper by delivering value to the customer through the use of innovative techniques, promoting honesty and integrity in every transaction and offering customers the very best product to suit their needs. So when Todd began analyzing manufacturers for the Cherry Hill line he set high standards. He insisted on a value-oriented product that did not compromise on quality, choice or service. It was these criteria that led Todd to the Giles product. The product and the relationship that developed with Giles has successfully fulfilled his goals and has been instrumental in making his sales center profitable during challenging times for the industry.
